MOTORCYCLE TRAINING

We offer a full motorcycle learning experience, from CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) to DAS (Direct Access Scheme), all tailored to suit your needs. If you would like to discuss your requirements please give us a call or just pop in for a coffee and we can get you started on the road to motorcycle freedom (and hopefully a bit of fun too!). We truly are a 'one-stop-shop' where you can literally arrive with nothing other than a driving licence and be expertly guided towards your goal, whatever that is. From training, clothing, bikes, parts, servicing and after-sales we believe that our service is second to none.

As this section grows we will put on more information/details as required, so don't forget to keep checking. And, as always we welcome your comments and suggestions.

The CBT Learning Experience
CBT is the first step to becoming qualified to ride. Anyone wishing to ride a bike or scooter up to and including 125cc will need a CBT certificate.

Here at The Rocket Centre we can provide everything the novice rider requires. If you don’t have a bike or scooter we can provide these along with suitable clothing all of which are new, clean and maintained to the highest standard, so you get the opportunity to try out biking to see if it’s for you.

If you decide to come with us you will be guaranteed an enjoyable day in excellent conditions with instructors who have many years of riding experience. Your day will start with booking in, an introduction to the course and what you can expect throughout the day. The course is designed to take you step by step at your pace, to reach the necessary skill levels that will enable you to be a safe and competent rider. There will be on-site instruction and exercises finishing with a road-ride should you reach the required level on the day.

On satisfactory completion of the course you will be issued with a DL196 CBT certificate which is valid for 2 years.

Checklist
Driving Licence (plastic & paper parts if new type). If it’s the old style licence you will need photographic I.D. such as a passport or other official identification.

Knowledge of the current Highway Code would be helpful towards your training.

If glasses or contact lenses worn you will need these as you must be able to read a vehicle number plate at a minimum distance of 20 metres.

If you have your own helmet, clothing etc. then bring these with you, along with any waterproofs you may have.

If bringing your own machine it must be taxed, insured (proof required) & MOT’d if applicable and roadworthy.

Motorcycling & the Law
Getting on the road – at 16 you can obtain a provisional licence and on passing your CBT can ride a 50cc moped on L-Plates.

At 17 a CBT will normally allow you to ride a machine of 125cc and 11kw with L-Plates.

Under 21’s must take the standard motorcycle test on a  machine of 121-125cc capable of at least 62mph. Upon passing the test they will be allowed to ride a motorcycle of up to 25kw for 2 years after which the licence becomes unrestricted.

21 years and over have the option of Direct Access (DAS). The test must be taken on a bike of at least 35kw

And Finally…..

We aim to provide the best service possible and hope that your day with us doesn’t end with your CBT. We have superb clothing and motorcycle departments to enable us to get you equipped with the best gear and on the best bikes. We also offer guaranteed satisfaction, free coffee, but as for the weather….sorry, even we aren’t that good!
