Myerscough Colleges Steve Slater reviews the Polaris Ranger EV
The demonstrations I provided were:- Quad bikes, Utility Vehicles and Buggies (both on and off road).
I have been an ATV instructor / assessor for many years, ATV’s and Buggies are a big part of my life, work, home and play!!
The EV Ranger Rocket Centre lent me was a real treat, the machine felt very stable even throwing it into corners like I did, with the suspension set up for agricultural / utility use, I thought I’d get plenty of body roll, but it really exceeded my expectations.
The battery life was excellent (I never charged it at all), I used it to set up for the event, throughout the day for demonstration purposes and even to clear up late into the evening. It still had half the battery life left when they broke my heart and took it away!!
The attraction of such an economic machine being able to perform so well both on tarmac and mud was outstanding, at one point I had it going up a muddy slope of 45 degrees in just one wheel drive, with a passenger sat in with me, with no loss of traction. The Ranger felt stable even on the side slopes used for the demonstrations, with the batteries being low to the floor the centre of gravity was low, ensuring a safe / stable traverse of the slope.
The EV really showed us what it was made of when I selected High range, the pick up speed shocked me, “what I lively response!” It gripped very well into the corners even after the slight shower we had, I even locked the rear differential to assist in drifting the corners, with a little tyre noise it still felt very stable!
The feedback from all my passengers was very positive, they all said how safe they felt, well the kids I strapped in didn’t say much, they just kept smiling!!
It has a very good riding / driving position, with excellent visibility all round.
I have absolutely nothing to criticize about the EV Ranger, the build quality is excellent, the power is ample for the size of the machine, the grip was phenomenal, economy is outstanding and it is a very comfortable and stable ride / drive.
Bring on the next chance I get to drive the EV!
Thank you Rocket Centre for your support!
